This open source browser plugs into Claude Code and Codex

The model can be swapped, but the browser is what a website actually sees, and that identity now persists.

An MIT-licensed project called feder-cr/dots offers an explicitly unaffiliated, open-source take on the persistent browser-agent pattern.

Its argument is simple: the model can be swapped, but the browser is what a website actually sees.

The project combines:

  • Any OpenRouter model
  • A patched Firefox engine
  • Seeded browser identities and persistent profiles
  • Optional proxies
  • Pointer and keyboard events designed to resemble normal interaction

The same browser can also be exposed through MCP to Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, and other compatible clients.

The repository has grown fast. On September 30, GitHub showed about 1.9K stars and 319 forks. Popularity does not establish safety, or permission to bypass a website’s rules.

The useful product pattern is a model plus a durable browser identity. The risk is that persistence can carry cookies, privileged logins, account history, and payment access into an experimental agent.

If you test it, use a disposable browser profile, a low-value test account, narrow allowed domains, and no saved payment details. Start with the travel-price example or another read-only benchmark.

The catch: review the source and the relevant website terms before automating anything.
