Facebook now lets you tell its feed what you want, in plain words
A new AI-powered Your Algorithm setting lets you steer Feed and Reels by describing your interests.
Facebook is rolling out a feature called Your Algorithm, after first launching the idea on Instagram. Instead of guessing what you like only from your clicks, Facebook now lets you just tell it. You type what you want to see more or less of, in normal language, and an AI model translates that into changes to your Feed and Reels.
How to use it:
- Tap the three-dot menu on any post and pick Your Algorithm to add or manage topics.
- Tap Interested or Not interested on a post. Facebook may ask a follow-up question so you can explain what you liked or did not.
- Meta says changes show up in your recommendations right away, within the same session.
For anyone who feels like their feed drifted somewhere they never chose, this is a real lever to pull, and it is a lot easier than training the algorithm one scroll at a time.
The catch: your written preferences are one signal among many. Facebook still ranks posts using your likes, comments and watch history, so do not expect a total reset. Meta also has not said exactly how the preferences you type are stored or used beyond ranking, or which countries get the feature first.
