Google Paused Its Bug Bounty Over AI Junk. Anthropic Just Sent More (Free)

On October 1, Google paused new submissions to its open-source bug bounty, saying a flood of automated reports were mostly not valid.

On October 8, Anthropic launched OSS Scanner: open-source projects opt in, and Claude’s strongest models (including Mythos) scan their code on a regular schedule, at no cost.

The catch: the reports are model-generated and not reviewed by a human. Anthropic says some may be wrong.

If you maintain a project:

  1. It’s free, and reports are emailed privately (not made public)
  2. Projects are approved case by case (enroll with a pull request on GitHub)
  3. Reproduce every bug before you fix it
