Graphify vs Understand Anything: which map should you use?
Both tools give an AI agent a map of your codebase, but they handle your files very differently.
Drop an AI agent into a new project and it reads it like a maze, one file at a time. Graphify and Understand-Anything build a clickable map of how everything connects, so the agent sees the whole layout first.
Graphify
- A /graphify skill for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI
- Maps code, docs, SQL schemas, configs and PDFs into one searchable graph
- Labels every connection: EXTRACTED means it is written in the source, INFERRED means Graphify worked it out
- Install with
uv tool install graphifyy, thengraphify install, then run/graphify .in your assistant
Understand-Anything
- A plugin for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI and more
- Several AI agents work together to map every file, function, class and dependency
- Click any piece in the dashboard for a plain-English summary and a guided tour
- The map saves as a plain file you can commit, so teammates do not have to rebuild it
The catch: the privacy picture differs. Graphify reads your code on your own computer with no AI involved, so code never leaves your machine, but your docs, PDFs, images and video do go through an AI model to be read. Understand-Anything uses AI agents for everything, so assume the files it analyzes go to your model provider.
Before you trust either map, check two things on your own project: what it actually read, and what it guessed.
