Hermes Bot Mode: 3 bots that beat a fake AI company

A bot named Marketer is no smarter than one named Developer if both run the same model, so route by engine instead.

The strongest idea in this Hermes Agent update video is not building a fake company of bots named Developer, Marketer, and Researcher. The creator recommends using Hermes Bot Mode as a router across different models, providers, and local hardware.

The logic is simple: a different name does not create a different capability if every bot runs the same underlying model.

A model-first setup routes work to the engine that fits it:

  1. Complex builds go to the strongest reasoning model available.
  2. Interface work goes to a model that does well on design and front-end code.
  3. Simple repeatable jobs can go to a local model.
  4. Cost-sensitive coding can go to a faster, lower-cost model.

The video also shows Hermes Desktop detecting your computer’s hardware, picking a compatible local model, downloading, loading, and testing it, and then creating a bot around it. Smaller machines may need smaller models, so use them for simple utility work rather than expecting frontier-level results.

A good first test is three bots: a strong builder, a fast specialist, and a local utility. Give all three the same benchmark task. Record output quality, completion speed, and actual cost, then keep the routing rules that win on your own work.

The video also covers Hermes HUD, voice mode, the wake phrase, subagent visibility, and better scheduled-job memory.

The catch: check feature behavior and pricing against the current Hermes documentation before you set anything up.
