Roblox Build Made a Playable Game in 14 Minutes (Here's the Catch)
In a Morgan Stanley test of Roblox Build, analysts typed a few sentences and got a playable pirate obstacle course in about 14 minutes, and a country-western carnival in about 17.
Roblox Build turns a text description into a game: mechanics, environments, characters, visual style and sound.
The bigger story: Morgan Stanley says 100,000+ people have used Build across three test markets, and 71% had never used Roblox Studio. That’s not developers getting faster. That’s players becoming creators.
The fine print:
- The usage numbers and build times are Morgan Stanley’s claims, not Roblox disclosures.
- Build is free only up to a usage cap. After that, more capacity is offered for Robux.
- It’s rolling out by region (the public alpha started in New Zealand).
Don’t judge an AI game tool by time-to-first-playable. Track:
- How many prompts it took
- What you spent
- How long the cleanup took
- Whether it’s good enough to publish
- Whether players come back
