Unity's official plugin now works with Claude Code, Codex and Grok
One Unity-maintained playbook now guides three different coding agents the same way.
Unity has extended its official agent plugin to Grok Build, making it the third supported coding agent alongside Claude Code and Codex.
Grok gets the same 30-plus Unity-authored skills covering UI, 2D and tilemaps, URP, Shader Graph, audio, navigation, physics, monetization, multiplayer, web and localization.
The important detail is not Grok itself. Unity maintains all three plugin variants from one repository, so a team can use different coding agents while each one follows the same engine-specific guidance, written and updated by Unity’s own feature teams. That can reduce two common problems:
- Agent lock-in, where a workflow depends on one assistant
- Inconsistent advice, where different agents assume different things about the same Unity system
This is not a new model inside the Unity Editor. It is a first-party package of skills and context. It supports Unity 6 and later.
A useful test: install it with grok plugin install Unity-Technologies/unity-agent-plugin --trust, confirm it with grok plugin list, then give Grok and your current agent the same tightly scoped Unity task. Compare plans, changes, errors and time to a working result.
The catch: the trust flag means you accept installing from that repository. Review it and test in a disposable project first. First-party guidance improves context, but it does not guarantee correct code or safe project changes.
