ChatGPT starts answering with buttons, charts and mini calculators
OpenAI's new Intelligent UI turns some answers into things you can tap and tweak, not just read.
On October 7, OpenAI started rolling its GPT-6 models into ChatGPT along with a feature it calls Intelligent UI. The idea is simple: when a plain paragraph is not the best answer, ChatGPT can build something you interact with instead. Think a savings calculator you can adjust, a chart you can poke at, a bill splitter, or a diagram of how a bike’s gears work.
ChatGPT can also start showing an answer while it is still thinking, then fill in more as it goes, so you are not staring at a spinner.
Who gets what:
- Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get GPT-6 Sol first.
- Free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna, starting the following day.
- If the extra visuals feel like too much, you can dial them back, the same way you adjust ChatGPT’s personality.
OpenAI pitches this as a way to make tricky topics easier to follow. For a lot of everyday questions, like comparing savings plans or mapping out a multi-day hike, a tool you can play with really is more useful than a long reply.
The catch: both reports lean on OpenAI’s own demos. Nobody has independently tested how often the visuals are actually right, so double-check any numbers a calculator gives you before you act on them.
